Become A Part of History

In 1896, many local residents passionate about the Pikes Peak region’s history came together to commit their time and resources to preserve the community’s stories. The Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum (CSPM) has expanded upon this vision for 130 years.

In honor of this anniversary, the CSPM is launching the 1896 Legacy Society that recognizes individuals intending to leave a planned gift to the CSPM Foundation’s endowment.

We hope you consider joining this special group.

As a member of the 1896 Legacy Society, you will receive special benefits including invitations to an annual recognition reception and special events, estate planning information, and recognition in our annual report.

Ways to Plan Your Gift

The most common and simple type of planned gift is a bequest, which can be added to your will or living trust in a single sentence.

Because bequests may be deductible against estate and inheritance taxes, advance planning can maximize these tax benefits and preserve more of your estate. Many donors are able to make a much larger donation than they might have thought possible through bequests.

Sample Language:
“I give, devise and bequeath to the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum, a 501c3 nonprofit corporation located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, % of my residential estate (or the sum of $ _________.)

You can make a charitable gift using retirement assets by naming the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum as a beneficiary of your retirement plans and accounts. Designating the museum as the beneficiary of your retirement account or IRA may help your estate bypass multi-tier tax exposures, preserve the value of your estate, and protect your heirs from potential tax burdens.

Donate to the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum while retaining certain benefits from the assets you give.

Name the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum as the beneficiary of your life insurance policy and receive an estate tax deduction.
