The Special Collections and Archives of the CSPM are housed in the Starsmore Center for Local History and include[s] manuscripts, photographs, ephemera, maps and blueprints, and a non-circulating reference library. The focus of the collection is the richly diverse history and culture of the Pikes Peak Region, and we actively seek materials that expand our understanding of our community’s past and present. The Starsmore Center for Local History (SCLH) was a gift to the citizens of Colorado Springs from Mary E. Starsmore in memory of her husband, James W. Starsmore.

The Starsmore Center for Local History (SCLH) is the Archives and Special Collections Department of the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum. Access to these materials by students, scholars, and the general public is available by appointment in the SCLH Reading Room. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 1 to 4. If you are unable to visit the Starsmore Center for Local History, we are happy to assist you with your research. Please note that the first 30 minutes of staff research time is free. Additional fees may be required for requests involving extensive staff time.
