We are excited to recognize Dave Buckley as our October Volunteer of the Month! Dave has been a CSPM volunteer for over two decades, contributing his time and talents to the Foundation Board and the Acquisitions Committee.
Dave’s roots in Colorado Springs run deep, as his great-grandfather was the western artist Charles Craig (1846-1931), who arrived in Colorado Springs in 1881 when the city’s population was approximately 5,000. The CSPM currently holds in its archives over 45 works of art by Craig, two of which are on display.
After retiring from the United States Air Force in 1991, Dave wanted to serve his community. He became an active volunteer in many organizations, including ones that serve the homeless population and at-risk youth. His appreciation for local history led him to volunteer at the CSPM. For two decades, Dave has worked with staff and other volunteers to support fulfilling the institution’s mission and vision. Dave says, “I continue to be amazed at the creativity, hard work, and enthusiasm of the museum’s staff.”
Dave has been married to his wife Barbara for 54 years, and they have two children, two grandchildren, one dog, and one cat – all living in Colorado Springs. In his leisure time, Dave likes to golf, fish, and travel.
Join us in thanking Dave for his years of dedicated service to the CSPM!
Dave always asks relevant questions and provides good insight as we consider potential donations to and deaccessions from the museum’s collection We really appreciate his time and dedication to the Acquisitions Committee!
