Dear supporters of the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum,
Happy New Year to all of our Museletter readers! Your involvement and support have been the driving force behind every accomplishment we achieved last year. Because of you, we continued to fulfill our mission and expand our impact in building a lasting connection to the Pikes Peak region by preserving and sharing our cultural history.
This past year was filled with notable achievements, but I wanted to list a few:
- Rebuilding visitation to over 100,000 guests. Prior to COVID-19, our highest visitation was 112,383 in 2018. In 2025, we proudly welcomed 109,884 visitors.
- Opening Until Forever Comes: This is Ute Homeland. After five years of consultation with Tribal Historians, Ute Elders, and Tribal representatives from the Southern Ute Indian Tribe, the Ute Mountain Ute Indian Tribe, and the Ute Indian Tribe of the Uintah and Ouray Reservation, Until Forever Comes: This is Ute Homeland opened as a permanent exhibition centering the ongoing history and culture of the Ute People in the Pikes Peak region.
- Engaging staff, board members, and the community in a comprehensive strategic planning process to evaluate our work and shape the museum’s future.
- Partnering with Refugees + Immigrants United and the Filipino-American Community of Southern Colorado to host the inaugural Pikes Peak regional celebration of Lunar New Year.
- Celebrating the contributors of Una Familia Grande: The Conejos Neighborhood Project with a family-friendly community event.
Please join me in thanking our staff, board and foundation board members, volunteers, supporters and community partners for their ongoing dedication. Every one of you played a role. Everyone was a part of this success. I hope you feel a sense of pride in these accomplishments.
Our future is quite exciting. The CSPM is joining organizations across the state and around the country to commemorate America 250 – Colorado 150. This is an observation of two significant anniversaries: the signing of the Declaration of Independence and Colorado’s entrance into the Union. We are offering special commemorative programming all year long for everyone to engage in and reflect on our place in local, state, and national history. We hope you will join us for these exciting opportunities.
Again, Happy 2026! We wish you a new year of peace, health, and prosperity!
