The CSPM joined the national celebration of volunteer service the week of April 20. On April 26, 44 of our wonderful volunteers gathered for our annual appreciation breakfast. We enjoyed good food and good conversation. Staff recognized our top hour earners, service anniversaries, and welcomed new volunteers. We reflected on different projects and shared a variety of achievements across the different departments. This event is special, and we cannot thank our volunteers enough for everything they do for the museum.
At the conclusion of the event, we announced the 2024 Volunteer of the Year (each year we recognize a volunteer for their service the year prior). This is never an easy decision. So many volunteers are worthy of this honor. When looking back at 2024, we collectively chose someone who supported the museum across departments, is one of our greatest advocates, and has used her time and talents to support our efforts. We are thrilled to recognize Sandra Meagher as the 2024 Volunteer of the Year!
At the last Festival of Lights Family Fun Day, Sandra shared that she is determined to recruit and train a group of friends to lead our face painting station in 2025. This is a very popular station, and we are always looking for new volunteers. To help recuit additional facepainters, the staff took turns demonstrating techniques through the designs shown below (“techniques” may be too generous of a word). Each design represents a way Sandra’s work has positively impacted the CSPM.
STAR
- Sandra is truly a star. She is a leader for the museum, guiding the Fundraising Committee and Board through critical conversations.
- She shares her enthusiasm and energy for the museum’s mission and is passionate about local history.
LIGHT BULB
- Sandra once said, “The Pioneers Museum inspires me. That’s an elusive feeling. When you’re lucky enough to be inspired, you know to dig deeper.”
- She has a lot of great ideas, is always willing to try new things, and comes up with meaningful strategies to support the work of the museum.
- She is always willing to bring her knowledge and skills to the table.
BALLOON
- Sandra’s joy is contagious, and she is eager to share her passion for the work of the CSPM – even going out of her way to host neighborhood parties to inspire others to be more engaged with the museum.
- She is willing to lend a helping hand, no matter the task – from writing thank you notes to donors, to handing out cake to eager patrons, and of course – to mastering the art of face painting to bring joy to regional families!
DOLLAR SIGN
- She serves as an ambassador to the CSPM, always sharing about upcoming exhibits, programs, and projects – and she works hard to support the museum’s fundraising efforts and increase museum engagement through the Clock Tower Society.
TACO
- Sandra gets creative with how she connect others to the museum, even inviting friends and neighbors to come to our Food Truck Tuesdays to enjoy a taco!
Congratualtions to Sandra and thank you to all of our volunteers for their service!
