On July 31, 1871, the story of the City of Colorado Springs began. A small group of people gathered near what is today the southeast corner of Cascade and Pikes Peak Avenues for a founding ceremony. Over the past 150 years, the city grew and developed around that very spot where the first stake was driven. In the new COS@150 History Stroll, we will venture to and around the three historic downtown parks – Acacia, Antlers, and Alamo. We’ll explore stories of celebration, innovation, and determination.

Living Landscapes Tour

The Pikes Peak region is a living landscape that has changed over time. Join Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum educators to explore the exterior of the 1903 Courthouse and the surrounding Alamo Square Park. Examine the architecture, public art, and history to learn how the use of this space has adapted to the needs and values of the community throughout time.
