Colorado gained statehood on August 1, 1876, and was given the official nickname of the “Centennial State.” 2026 marks two important anniversaries:  the sesquicentennial or 150th of the State of Colorado; and the semi-quincentennial or 250th of the Declaration of Independence. The CSPM Collection has archival materials and artifacts that document how Colorado’s 100th and the nation’s 200th were celebrated in 1976. A selection of these items—from a photograph of the AdAmAn Club raising the Centennial flag on Pikes Peak’s summit, to Fallstaff Beer cans featuring the Liberty Bell— are now on display in the main floor lobby!
