Harry Gautsche Memorial

The CSPM staff was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Harry Gautsche on March 30, 2025. Harry was a loyal and passionate volunteer for the CSPM for many decades. He, along with his late wife, Marcia were always among the first to raise their hands and ask how they could help the museum. Harry was a retired business executive for Owen’s Corning Fiberglass, and he brought a unique business perspective to his volunteerism. He was a board member of the Friends of the CSPM and its successor organization, the CSPM nonprofit board. He then served on the CSPM Foundation Board until his health began to wane. Even after this, he was always so thrilled whenever he had the opportunity to visit “his museum.”

Harry took great pride in stewarding the CSPM’s financial resources. He was instrumental in guiding the successful reimagining of our fundraising efforts following catastrophic budget cuts during the Great Recession. The CSPM is a healthier and more financially stable institution due in no small part to Harry’s enthusiasm and knowledge. All of us who knew him will miss Harry’s warm smile and outgoing nature, and we are endlessly grateful for his unwavering support. His family has asked that any memorial donation go to support the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum.

“The exhibits of our history have always fascinated us. My wife and I knew our contributions of time, talent and treasure are most important for sustaining all of the museum’s successes.”
