Donor Spotlight: Clock Tower Society 2023

Diane Barber Stine, Development Director

The Clock Tower Society is a special group of individuals and families who are passionate about the history and culture of the Pikes Peak Region. They support the CSPM’s ambitious goals to ignite curiosity and inspire discovery by donating  $1,000 or more to the institution.  A benefit of this group is the opportunity to go behind the scenes and explore our community’s history throughout the year.

Air Force Academy Cadet Chapel Tour

In June, the Clock Tower Society went on a special behind-the-scenes tour of the Air Force Academy Cadet Chapel with Duane Boyle Academy’s architect and Marty Rickett, LEED-AP Sr. Project Manager of JE Dunn Construction to share about its history and envisioned future.

The Cadet Chapel is the most recognizable building at the Academy and the most visited man-made tourist attraction in Colorado. Completed in 1962, the chapel is an all-faith house of worship designed to meet the spiritual needs of cadets and staff. It is considered among the most beautiful examples of modern American academic architecture. Cadet Chapel was awarded the American Institute of Architects’ National Twenty-Five Year Award in 1996 and, as part of the Cadet Area, was named a U.S. National Historic Landmark in 2004. A meticulous renovation project to revamp the chapel began in 2019. The Chapel is expected to reopen to the public in 2027.

It was a wonderful opportunity for the group to learn about another local preservation and renovation project before the CSPM’s HVAC Renovation in July 2023.

Special behind-the-scenes experiences like this for the group to further connect with our community’s history. It is one of the many benefits of the Clock Tower Society. Interested in learning more? Visit our website to learn more and join today at www.cspm.org/support/clock-tower-society
