Discovering Elsie Palmer Discussion Panel

Photo courtesy of the collection of the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College.

John Singer Sargent’s spellbinding portrait of Elsie Palmer recently returned home to Colorado Springs from Ightham Mote in England, once the residence of Queen Palmer and her daughters in the 1880s. In honor of Elsie’s return, please join Donna M. Lucey, author of Sargent’s Women; Leah Davis Witherow, Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum Curator of History; Blair Huff, Fine Arts Center Curatorial Assistant; and Susan Fletcher, Glen Eyrie Historian for a fascinating panel discussion exploring the life and times of Elsie Palmer. (Panelists subject to change)

Prior reading of Donna Lucey’s book, Sargent’s Women: Four Lives Behind the Canvas, is recommended but not required; the book is available for sale in the FAC Museum Shop and CSPM Museum Shop.
