This November, we are thrilled to recognize Chester Gore as the Volunteer of the Month. Chester began volunteering at the front desk almost a year ago. The museum staff has enjoyed getting to know Chester and appreciate his dedication, his humor and his good-natured personality. At the front desk, Chester greets visitors, answers questions, supports staff, and so much more. We are very fortunate to work with Chester and appreciate everything he does to support our daily operations!
We asked Chester why he chose to volunteer for the CSPM. “I love people, love visiting and sharing knowledge with them. History interests me greatly. I am new to Colorado Springs and love it here and this opportunity has allowed me to learn the history of the area and given me the opportunity to meet people with similar interests. I served as a volunteer for 5 years at the Albuquerque Police Department and also really enjoyed it.
During his time at the museum, Chester has most enjoyed building relationships with the “wonderful people that I work with at the museum.” He also loves meeting visitors from all over the world (Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, Canada, and just about every country in Europe) and the nation. When it comes to the museum, he share, “Our new exhibit, Until Forever Comes: This is Ute Homeland, has become my favorite and that of many patrons.  It is truly amazing, and I am excited to learn more.”Â
When he’s not volunteering, most of his activities center around his grand children and friends. “My grandchildren were the biggest force prompting our move to the Springs. Their ages are 8 years, 5 years, and we just welcomed our third, another grandson on 11-5-2025. We are blessed.” Chester’s family also operates the Rio Grande Arts and Crafts Festival in Albuquerque, New Mexico and spends lots of time there as well.
Thank you, Chester!Â
