A Donation in Three Parts

Hillary Mannion, Archivist

This Fall, Chef Siegfried “Sigi” Krauss and members of the Pikes Peak American Culinary Federation (ACF) gave to the CSPM in three ways: They shared their time and stories, donated seven scrapbooks to the Starsmore Center for Local History—home of the CSPM Archives and Special Collections, and generously gave a monetary donation of $5,000 to support our work at the museum.

Many of you likely know of Chef Sigi for his world-class culinary creations, and the warm ambience of his Briarhurst Manor Inn—which he first opened in 1974 and sold in 2006. Some of you may have attended the culinary apprenticeship program at the Pikes Peak State College under the ACF.  Or, you may have attended their annual culinary shows in venues across the region.

The seven scrapbooks, ranging in date from 1959 to 2022, document this rich culinary history with photographs, newspaper clippings and ephemera.  Come to the archives to learn more. However, be warned: you may have a craving for a fine meal once you are done with your research.

Many thanks to Chef Sigi and the Pikes Peak American Culinary Federation for your generous gifts!
