ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Major McAllister held many leadership positions in the bourgeoning Colony of Colorado Springs and his leadership took many forms, from the School Board member to Out West Editor, from Colorado College Trustee to local pomologist, it seemed that Major McAllister had a hand in everything in Colorado Springs. Beginning with their close relationship in the Civil War, McAllister and Palmer developed similar ideas about what would make the Fountain Colony successful and McAllister committed to those ideas through a lifetime of service to the community. In this talk, Mr. Metzger will examine how Major McAllister impacted the development of the Colony and how he and his family affected the culture of Colorado Springs.
